Q: What is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship?

A: The best Duelists from all over the world will assemble in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 10th and 11th for the well-deserved opportunity to play for the coveted title of 2013 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) World Champion or 2013 Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Dragon Duel World Champion, for those born 2000 or later, at the preeminent Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME World Championship.

In the 2013 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship, a total of 38 expert Duelists, 26 in the World Championship and 12 in the Dragon Duel World Championship, will vie for the chance to hold the Champion’s trophy high above his head. Six players from North America, two players from Latin America, five players from Japan, including the defending Champion, six from Europe and Oceania, and seven from other Asian countries have their sights set on winning the title in the World Championship. Two players from North America, two players from Latin America, two players from Japan, three from Europe and Oceania, and three from other Asian countries will battle for the title of Dragon Duel World Champion. These elite players competed at their National or Continental Qualifiers and have earned the right to represent their region in Las Vegas. Each one believes that they have the unbeatable combination of cards and strategy to beat their opponents for the long sought after World Champion title.

While competing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship itself is exclusive to those who have already earned an invite to the event, however, the general public is invited to attend – Duelists from all over the globe are welcome to join in the festivities, either as a spectator, or by participating in one of the many FREE Public Events and carnival games being held at the event.

Q: What cool things are there to do at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship?

A: Carnival games will be available throughout the Public Events Hall for attendees to enjoy.
In addition to the fun carnival games, we will also have a “Duel the Champion” event being held in the Public Events Hall on Sunday. Duelists will have the opportunity to Duel against one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship representatives.

Sunday, August 11th, 2013

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM Duel the Champion
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM Duel the Champion

Attendees will earn stamps based on participation and how well they play each game, with a maximum of 4 stamps per try. The collected stamps can be traded for premium prizes.

Basketball Challenge - 3 basketball shots from a designated distance to test your skills!
1 stamp for participation, 1 stamp per basket made

Bean Bag Toss – Feed the hungry monsters 3 bean bags with perfect accuracy!
1 stamp for participation, 1 stamp per bean bag fed

Bingo – Classic game of bingo to test your luck!
1 stamp for participation, 3 stamps for first bingo, 2 stamps for second

Giant Card Challenge – Single round Duel on a larger than life mat and cards!
1 stamp for participation, 3 stamps for the winner

Duel the Champion (Sunday Only) – Single round Duel against one of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship representatives.
1 stamp for participation, 1 stamp for the winner
Q: Will there be any Special Guests at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship?

A: Dan Green, the voice actor of Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi on the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series and Officer Trudge on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, and Erica Schroeder, the voice actor of Mai Valentine from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series and Akiza Izinski on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, will be present at the World Championship. They will be available at specific times during the weekend to sign autographs so bring all of your favorite Yugi, Yami Yugi, Mai, and Akiza cards!

Q: What is the format for the Public Events?

A: All of these Public Events are Constructed events, which means each Duelist must bring his or her own Deck in order to compete. Decks must be constructed according to the latest Advanced Format guidelines. (See here for more information: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/#limited_adv) The Advanced Format changed as of March 1st 2013. You will need to make sure your Deck matches the current format.

Q: What is a Swiss Round Tournament?

A: Players are paired off based on each player’s win/loss record. Players are not eliminated when they lose a match during Swiss tournaments – instead, they will continue to be paired against players with similar records for all remaining rounds of the event.

Q: What is a Single-Elimination Tournament?

A: Half of the tournament is eliminated after each round – the losing player is out of the tournament, while the winner goes on to the next round. This continues until only one player remains, who is then declared the winner.

Q: What cards are legal for play?

A: Only cards that have been released in TCG territories are allowed for play in the Public Events at the World Championship. Please check the “Products” page online at http://www.yugioh‐card.com/en/products/ for the most current legality dates of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG product releases, prior to preparing your Deck for the event.

*Judgment of the Light is tournament legal for all Public Events at the World Championship.

Q: Can I use OCG cards (cards printed for use in Japan and other Asian territories) in my Deck?

A: Yes, cards printed for Asian markets that also fall under the legal for play guidelines above are legal for play in the Public Events tournaments held at the World Championship. This is a one-time exception, made for the Public Events at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship.
